Bishop Douglas L. Quick, 62, God came and granted him rest from all of his cares, pain and labor and lovingly took him home to be with him on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Duke University Hospital. He was born on April 30, 1949 in Bennettsville SC, to the late Mr. Leroy Quick and Addie Mae Garner.
He graduated in 1967 from Eastside High School in Bennettsville, SC. He later attended Clinton Jr. College in Rock hill, SC, Livingston College in Salisbury, NC, and began his religious journey while attending college in Boston, MA. He graduated with a bachelor’s Degree in education, a master’s degree in Religion and Theology and bachelor’s Degree in History. He then moved to High Point, NC where he was united in marriage to Edna Lee Poole on September 9, 1975. He then began pastoring at Eastside/Redding Street Church of God of Prophecy for over twenty years. During which he was also employed as a teacher with the Guilford County Schools, Reliance and Marsh Furniture. He was then lead by God to start his own ministry, Christ Cathedral Christian Fellowship Center was established in May of 1998 to the present.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife; Edna Lee Poole, his daughters, Amanda Quick, Dorressa Quick and Maranatha Quick-Hope (Addison) all of High Point, NC; one special son, Jeremy(Kisha) Staggers of High Point, NC; six brothers, Leroy Quick, Jr. (Sandra) of Sumter, SC; Pastor Fred T. Quick (Vevy Ann) of Bennettsville, SC; Minister Ceasar A. Quick (Brenda) of Fayetteville, NC; Pastor David Quick(Debbie) of Sumter, SC; Minister Paul Quick of Columbus, MS; Pastor Daniel Quick (LuCrecia)of High Point, NC; four sisters, Twin sister Minister Doris Q. Mason (Robert) of Mullins, SC; Elenora Williams (Albert) of Sumter, SC; Minister Magalene Mitchell of Decatur, GA; and Angela Lingard of Warner Robins, GA; five brother –in-laws, Julius Martin of Norman, NC; James Poole (Delcia) of Jackson Springs, NC; Ralph Poole of Norman, NC; John E. Poole, of High Point, NC; William Poole of High Point, NC; three sister-in-laws, Mary Poole of High Point, NC; Vensella Ballard (Willie) of High Point, NC; Linda McDougald (James) of High Point, NC; four granddaughters, and the Christ Cathedral Christian Fellowship Center family and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Two very special cousins, David and Quanita Moore.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church @Providence Place, 1701 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and at the home 1423 Futrelle Dr., High Point, NC. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park, High Point, NC.
